For the past couple of weeks I have been looking at many different types of money making programs, and how they tick (and to be honest with you, I haven’t been impressed with many). A few have stuck out from the crowd, with insightful and refreshing information, but the majority have been the same old information re-packaged and re-priced.

On the other hand, I have also been looking at other ‘review’ sites concerning these money making products, and all of them (that I have found through web searches and clicking random links), all have one invested agenda: to make you click a link to ensure they make money out of you.

I have been trying to find this site useful for all, and not just a running commentary concerning what I have been up to this week in the world of the web. In fact, I think I have come up with a cracking idea to ensure that this site can become a informative resource for all, and not some kind of mini ego-trip for me.

I am going on holiday (arranged just after Christmas) for a week, which is typical when I have a cool idea burning in my mind! However, I am hoping to lay on a beach somewhere with a large alcoholic drink, notepad, and pen - to think long and hard about exactly how this new look Online Millionaire Dream.com site will look, feel and what new content it will hold.

I have been getting sidetracked… Bringing all of Google together!

For the past couple of days I have been trying to find the best way for myself to research what is going on throughout Google. You see, what people do not realise is that Google runs (at the moment), 26 different blogs which are being updated by different departments on a regular basis.

However, the BIG downside to this is that only one or two link to all the blogs, and many of the blogs are hidden away deep within Google itself.

My first was to put all the RSS links in to one RSS Reader (obviously sponsored by Google), to manage the new pieces of information that Google distributes. But then it dawned on me… I might not be the only one in this boat.

So, I have registered a quick domain name, and whacked an automatic RSS catching (wordpress plug-in) device to a Wordpress install, and so everyone can now have a one-stop shop for all Google’s recent updates and information releases. The time was not getting the site ready, or even the domain registration - but actually it was making sure I had found all the RSS feeds Google produces from all the different blogs!

Quick Tips: Getting Noticed Quickly!

This is a quick and easy way to ensure that Google lists you high in its search results, and becoming a ‘valuable source of content’.

While you are designing your site, and making it look pretty before you launch, take time out to write a minimum of 30 articles that you are planning to release on your site. This is NOT additional work, but instead content you are planning to put on this site anyway.

The trick is, when you are ready to launch your site, to program Wordpress (my content management system of choice), to release these articles one a day (for at least) the following month. This will show Google that you are an active blogger with relevant content, and so send its robots to scan your site a lot more frequently.

This tip will also work if you already have a blog running, and wish to increase your search results!

DailyClicks Pro is the Big Brother of DailyClicks, a very reliable service that has been around for ages. Velocity Clicks is the same thing, from a different company - and both are reliable. Basically the idea behind it is that you get paid to look at, and clicking advertising banners. Thats it - as simple as that. You don’t have to sign up to any unwanted products, no minimum agreements, just get Paid to Click.

My Bank Holiday Weekend (Pt 1): Setting up My first stream of income

In the UK it is Easter weekend. A time where the ’sales’ (which never seem to end), are back, and many people are enjoying their 4 days off to spend time with their families. Me on the other hand, am just sitting here at my crappy old computer, surfing the web to find interesting and thought- provoking ideas to bring to you lovely people.

My first thought when I set myself this challenge was to create a simple website - to sell (you guessed it) eBooks. A good friend of mine, Emma, decided to buy loads of eBooks ages ago with resell rights, and hadn’t done much with them. So I thought I would ask if I could sell the books for her, and split the profits 50/50. Of course she agreed.

She emailed me a HUGE zipped file of ebooks to me, and I spent some time to see what information was about, and what kind of products could be made from them. While I was doing this, I had already purchased my hosting and domain name with 1 & 1 Internet. I would recommend the 1&1 Business Package, as you get your database for wordpress, and also 3 domain names included, so you can use to for marketing.

My Goals: At present I am trying to find ways to distribute my products effectively, without having to email every product. I am also planning on using wordpress to run the website, as Google LOVES wordpress, and so the wordpress websites get listed quicker.

Quick Tips: Domain Names

So many people, myself included, worry about what they should register as their domain name. Concerns include (but not limited to): How long should it be? What are my keywords? Should it be .com, .net or .co.uk? etc.

My advice is this:
It does not matter if it is a .com or not, most likely all the good ones are gone anyways. Think about the audience you are trying to attract - are they location specific? If so, a .co.uk will work fine if they are based in the UK. If you cannot get a .com, then .net will do just as well.

BEFORE you start building your website, you should register your domain name. It is a simple cheat to ensure Google knows about your domain name, and so will keep looking back to see if you have launched or not. This will also give you extra brownie points when you do launch your site, as google favours domain names that have been around for longer than brand new ones. This will also ensure someone else doesn’t buy it before you do!

Try and get your main keyword in your domain name. This will make it easier for people to find you in Google. I could have gone for something like money-making-secrets.com, to ensure top listings, but I decided not to because it would of made my site sound like every other greedy git out there trying to sell you something.

Very often, if you can’t get the domain name you want, the domain name registrar will suggest alternate forms of the name you typed. For example, if you wanted website.com, and it was taken (of course it is), it might suggest forms like: thewebsite.com, mywebsite.com, websites.com - and the like, if they were not already taken as well. The question is, should you take them?

I hope this helps you out a little more. For domain names and hosting, I suggest 1&1 Internet, purely for the fact that I use them (this site is hosted there), they are very reliable, and more importantly their 1&1 Business package comes with 3 free domain names - which means you can buy one domain name as the ‘main one’, and then have two left over for marketing (two different domains with two different sets of keywords in them) - or you could just use the other two to launch some more websites on the same hosting… the choice is yours!

Google Adsense: Whats the Problem?

One thing I still cannot work out is why more people do not add Google Adsense to all their sites. Now I can understand companies who are advertising their services and products online not wishing to add Adsense, as it would make their content look desperate. But for bloggers, internet marketers and generally money greedy gits like me - their is no excuse!

Now, these people who preach to others that they earn hundreds and thousands from Adsense are obviously high from sniffing their socks, but everyone can earn a little from adsense - just by adding the code from Google to your site. The more effort you put in to your site, the more people will come and see your site. This means that without doing anything out of the ordinary, your Google Ad views will organically grow too.

What people do not mention often enough is that Google still pays you for your visitors just ‘viewing’ your site. You will not get as much as from your visitors clicking one of these ads, but it can become quite profitable.
At the end of the day, if you own a selection of different websites / blogs, it is silly not to add a Google Adsense banner, from the same Google account, to all the sites. This way even if you have only a few visits a day to each site, you are still gaining views that Google will pay you for.

A little, often, soon increases to a lot if you use this system.

The Beginning of my Journey: The One Million Dollar Challenge

Have you noticed that all these so-called easy online money-making systems involve you spending hard earned cash on eBooks to find out their secrets – only to find out that they are just reaping the benefits of some good Google searches, Microsoft Word, and Paypal? And at the end of it – most of the time they tell you exactly what you already knew… just with more words and some pretty pictures.

This blog is different.
Here I have set myself a challenge of trying to become a millionaire from earning money from the web. I am going to tell you exactly how I do it, and expose the crap that is only there to ‘steal’ your money to make them richer.

In theory I am already breaking the first rule: “Write an eBook and sell the information to others”. This site is a free resource for research. I am sure I will be making mistakes along my journey – and so hopefully you will not have to. I am going to be up front and brutally honest.

My Personal Goal:
On Sunday 27^th June 2010 – I want to retire young and free from debt, safe in the knowledge that my future financial security is sorted, so I can actually enjoy life.
(I know it sounds a little far-fetched, but when you think that on average 70% of our lives is taken up by the meaningless, never-ending realms of work – or ‘the prostitution of time’ as I like to call it… surely life would be better served ‘free’)

For starters, this site will be hopefully generating some money by listing affiliate links to products and services I believe are good and I have been able to reap the benefits from. I will also be allowing advertising on the site. Also, if you find the information here helpful, please donate to buy me a coffee!
